Abstract
The previous discussion reviewed the concept of an equivalence relation and considered several equivalences for molecules, including rigid motion, which is the strongest in practice. A rigorous solution to the sorites paradox requires us to distinguish even tiny perturbations, else all objects (depending on continuous values) can be made equivalent. This talk will introduce invariants that are properties preserved under a given equivalence and hence can distinguish objects. The ultimate aim of any classification is to design complete invariants that classify all objects under a given equivalence.![]()
