Abstract

In systems composed of autonomous entities, interactions
play a crucial role. Autonomous systems cannot typically command each
other to do things, rather they must negotiate and persuade to reach
their goals. This talk will describe some of the work on interaction
mechanisms carried out in the Agents Lab at Brooklyn College, City
University of New York. Here we are interested in interactions between
combinations of software agents, humans, and physical systems,
combinations that we call "socio-technical" systems. Our approaches
range from the theoretical, through simulation, to the experimental, and
this talk will describe work across this range.
