Abstract

I will first give an introduction to persistent homology, explaining informally the key ideas with the help of examples that will also showcase some of its potential applications. In the second half of the talk I will present the work that we've carried out on skeletonisation algorithms, where we've compared three algorithms - Mapper, the alpha-Reeb algorithm, and HoPeS (which uses persistent homology) - on both synthetic and real data.
