Abstract

It is a time of great change and development in computing. The explosion in demand for processing artificial intelligence models has created a drive towards alternative processing methods, at a time when conventional electronic processing is facing fundamental limitations.

Optalysys is developing an optical computing chip technology that provides a solution to these limitations. By combining Fourier Optics with Silicon Photonics, with Deep Learning, the technology will provide processing capabilities far beyond even the fastest electronic processors - whilst consuming a fraction of the power, allowing it to be applied to embedded and mobile applications on the Edge. In this talk the founder and CEO, Dr Nick New will introduce the technology and the company - and present the vision of how optical computing is set to bring a new level of capability into our everyday lives.
